Most businesses that sell to the public or to other businesses, require that some of their employees drive on company business. Often, this will involve the company providing the appropriate vehicle in which the employee will go about his or her business. In some companies the ‘company car fleet’ can become quite substantial in size over time and move from what was a fairly easily controlled, ‘needs based’ activity, to a much more substantial issue, where it is imperative to introduce structure and controls in order to contain costs and to provide a consistent hierarchical benefit structure for colleagues.
When this is spread over many markets and within different operating and cultural structures, the challenges are magnified manifold.
